GR402472 can be reached from two directions: Via a connecting ridge from Belmore Browne Peak to the east, or from Porcupine Creek to the west. The later is a considerably longer undertaking, but is a more scenic hike through impressive canyons. The description here is for the Porcupine Creek approach. Head south on Highway 40. Go past Barrier Lake. A couple of kilometers after the Baldy Pass parking area pull off the road and park at Porcupine Creek (signed). The trailhead is on the east side of the road (GPS reference 50d58m40s N, 115d04m59s W). Start out on the left bank of Porcupine Creek on a good trail. Shortly you intersect the trail coming from Old Baldy (heading south with bridge crossing). Keep straight ahead. Within 15 minutes you arrive at the junction (GPS reference 50d58m12s N, 115d04m23s W) of the north and south tributaries of Porcupine Creek. Take the left branch at the fork. Sections of broken trail if you can find them are typically on the north bank. For the most part don't be surprised if you're boulder-hopping on the creek bed. At about the 1.5 hour mark you arrive at the second fork (GPS reference 50d57m36s N, 115d02m04s W). Again stay with the left branch. Soon you find yourself hopping from ledge to ledge in a narrow canyon with occasional waterfalls on either side. The creek is also flowing above ground here. As you continue beyond the canyon the angle increases somewhat. At hour 2 you come to yet another fork (GPS reference 50d58m01s N, 115d01m01s W). This time go right. A couple of hundred meters further on keep left. Looking up you should be able to see the a broad saddle. This ridge connects Boundary Ridge to the left with your objective on the right - both hidden at this point. The creek you are in gradually veers right, and as it gains elevation it reduces to a gully. Head straight up the gully until it peters out, then transfer to the boulder slope on the right and scramble your way towards the high point. The true summit lies just beyond (GPS reference 50d57m34s N, 115d00m14s W). As you peer over the top the eastern mountains come into view. Cox Hill and Jumping Pound Mountain is directly across. Belmore Brown Peak is at the end of a connecting ridge to the southeast. GR407451 is the distinct clump directly south. Mt. Bryant is the high point in the distant south. The northern view is crowded by the multitude of Mt. Baldy summits and outliers, but you can still pick out Yamnuska and Fable in the distant north. To the southwest are all the familiar faces of the K-Country: Kidd, Bogart, Fortress, and Galatea, to name just a few. *GR numbers are references used in topographic maps. The six-digit designation is split into two pairs of three: The first trio of digits reference the vertical (N-S) grid lines while the last 3 digits reference the horizontal (W-E) grid lines. For each 3 digit set the first two numbers are whole numbers, while the last digit is a decimal place number. For the peak named here, GR153311 can be found between the 15 and 16 vertical grid lines and 31 and 32 horizontal grid lines (see below). The object 'B' would have a reference of GR157317.
