    There used to be several 80s/Retro/NewWave/Punk download sites. Sadly, the RIAA scared many of them off.

  • WOXY Vintage -- a fantastic streaming channel featuring "30 years of adventurous, innovative and influential music from The Velvet Underground, The Clash, Talking Heads, The Smiths, Depeche Mode and much more"
  • Flashback Alternatives -- another good online streaming station
  • Kick & Go -- a personal blog with frequent posts of MP3s from the 80s
  • '80s Tunes -- a LiveJournal site, updated occasionally with MP3s
  • Lost in the 80's -- "rescuing music from day-glo obscurity"
  • Lost Bands of the New Wave Era -- "Great bands that never made it -- but should have"
  • something i learned today -- "yesterday's best garage, punk, & hardcore"
  • Strange Reaction -- "older punk/indie tunes"
  • New Wave Outpost -- a weekly download, plus lots of background information on 80s songs
  • Mod Pop Punk Archives -- late 70s goodness; updated occasionally
  • punkrockers.com -- tunes and video from the golden age of punk
  • Punk Rock in My Veins! -- more punk downloads
  • Bubblegum Machine -- "If it's ever been on K-Tel or Ronco, it's in. If it features hand claps, cow bells, syrupy orchestration, walls of sound, wrecking crews, sha-la-las, toothy teen idols or candy-based metaphors for carnal acts, it's in." (60s, 70s, and 80s stuff)

  • Totally Fuzzy -- Herr K sifts the music blogs and 'dexes to find for you the best music downloads on the net
  • mix of the week -- "soulful dance music"; not exactly weekly (updates have been few and far between for the last while), but still awesome
  • Sonic Sunset -- weekly DJ mixes featuring Chicago house, Detroit techno, and other goodies
  • Music for Robots -- group blog with frequent MP3 posts
  • Gutterbreakz -- lots of electronica
  • Aurgasm -- "an eclectic menagerie of aural pleasures"
  • Scenestars -- group blog posting tunes in many different genres
  • Music Forest -- MP3 and video, mostly electronica; written in Japanese
