crush
the sweet, sweet romance of a crush?

#1 :: crush ::

just one thing before we start here. asp files are server-side applications, which means you've gotta be running a web server that has an asp engine to view them. examples of the aforementioned would be microsoft's personal web server and MIIS. so although you won't be able to view the asp output using your web browser, you'll still be able to download the source code and view it; and hopefully (hopefully!) learn something from my experiences, if you're so inclined. =P *grins*

for your information, crush is linked under my layouts page too! =) it was the first serious webpage i ever created. i used to dabble in basic html back when i was in primary school (a looooong time ago -grins-)... still remember creating a stupid, childish webpage for the gep department back then =P in sec school i took part in thinkquest 97 and 98, not to mention xlab, in which we did a lot of bare-bones html and asp coding. i think i did a simple personal webpage back then, but it was more for fun than anything else. it was kinda a game back then =) we would all create pages and see which loser would get the most counter hits. of course, the people who visited our sites were invariably each other =P i think we kinda got a kick out of that... anyway, all these thingamajigs helped keep my flagging html skills up to date (translation : barely alive), but i let them all slip away in sec4 when confronted with the dreaded Os. and i was never a very artistic person, so i didn't really pick up photoshop until the end of sec4. yes, i suck. so sue me =) even now, there are still so many things i've yet to learn about it =P

 fortitude
26th tahanners - fortitude. wonder what the 28th will be.
#2 :: fortitude ::

what started out as a spark of interest turned out to be an enduring obsession spanning years (2 so far, to be precise! =P) i remember the first day i entered tahan as a trainee - statics in the central plaza, the heavy army rucksacks that inevitably left your spine feeling bruised and battered after yet another training, the ardous drills, the strict discipline; and above all, the belief that this was the way to go. so when i found myself with too much time to spare in the last minutes of 2001, it only seemed natural to create a webpage as a tribute of sorts, to the cca that opened up the world of mountain trekking to me. you'll find pictures, pictures and more pictures here (mainly of mountains and sadistic training sessions =P), since i never really got around to doing the team journals, though i may feature a personal one on the prohosting site soon. i once even tried automating the picture galleries in this page using asp, but it was simply too tedious to do so - decided to leave it as it is and hard-code.

 ribooking
so much for a free frag.
#3 :: xlab2k/ribooking ::

ahhhhh... my pride and joy =) my 1999-2000 xlab project. we literally spent every day after school for 9 months coding this accursed thing; it was truly an interesting experience. how did we survive? well, let me tell you a little secret... every day after work we started up our ethernet hub, and played half-life for hours and hours on end!!!! AHHH, those were the good old days. *grins* =P i guess that might kinda explain why my sec3 results were so kinda screwed, though =X

it's basically a booking system, that was ostenibly supposed to save administrative time and resources by automating the booking of facilities and rooms in the school; but like many other student-created applications, it was never put into use. *sigh* a great idea gone to waste.

anyway go ahead and download the code if you have a mind to.

 webpj
i've been wanting to do this for a long time
#4 :: webpj2002/thespark ::

plenty of mixed feelings accompanied the completion of this project, which was initiated as my end-of-term project for last semester. on one hand, i kinda enjoyed the return to the good old days of coding, the marathon programming sessions that left your eyes blurred and your head throbbing from staring too much at the crt; and the inherent joy in creating something new and exciting. on the other hand, i didn't particularly appreciate some of the infighting and the strain on social ties which the project indirectly caused. *sigh*

designed as a webportal for secondary school students, the most unique features of this project are the icq emulator, which i've been raring to do since the demise of penpal, an online music browser, and some other administrative tools for teachers and students alike.

download and try to make head or tail of it all =)
