perpetualsuccour
perpetualsuccour. cover image taken from a red hot chilli pepper's mtv =P how long.

#1 :: perpetualsuccour ::

ahhhh, the very first design i attempted since taking a 2-year break from webdesign back in sec3. i remember i was flipping through my mind for a title that'd sound catchy (yes, i am a closet egoist too =) or was then =P), and somehow the allusion to christianity sounded vaguely appealing. i've never really had much love for the followers of christ. =) but the amateurishness of the layout should be quite obvious, if only from the blocky, simplistic feel evident throughout the layout. i mean, i've always been a *squarish* kinda guy when it comes to design; i never really took to custom brushes from nocturna.net and scratchy grunge the way like a duck to water the way many of my contemporaries did. hell, i usually don't even use brushes in my work even now (can't be bothered to download); and quite a lot of my layouts still feature geometrically-inclined influences; just that they've been given a touch of spit and shine, that's all =P a mortal sin in the eyes of my peers, that =P anyway you'll be seeing a basic geometrical framework, 90-degree angles and the like, coupled with an angstful picture of linda hamilton that'd leave any self-confessed sadist rubbing their hands in glee.

who's burning in hell now? =P

 justpushplay
justpushplay marked the beginning of my aerosmith fetish, which i'm proud to say still burns in me today =)
#2 :: justpushplay ::

just push play, fuckin' a! just push play, they're gonna bleep it anyway =P remember i was still on an aerosmith craze when i made this layout. the frameset used here was one of my earlier attempts, and i must say it's served me well - similar layouts using it include bonjovi-crush and lambda core, amongst others. it's funny how one rejects the unfamiliar and untested when it comes to something like creating layouts; perhaps a reflection of human psychology here? woah, intellectual =P anyway note the tiled aerosmith background, and the just push play cover image, all emblazoned in a glittery prudish pink. mmmm. =)

 evil
what an imaginative title this layout has...
#3 :: evil ::

the followup to the perpetualsuccour layout. i was kinda stoned when i finally finished this layout (getting up to speed ain't an easy job), and i couldn't have cared less what it was called at that point in time - thus i named it a very simplistic "evil". what better name for a white-on-black layout promising gory images of immolation and eternal damnnation to its viewers? =X *grins* you might notice that things have been cleaned up a little, in comparision to its predecessor; and that this layout features an interesting sidebar system i first used in my silicon valley webpage (but have found too cumbersome and useless to employ since =P)

 lambda core
a tribute to half-life, the game i wasted the most hours of my life on ever =P
#4 :: lambda core ::

lambda core was an experiment in itself, as i set my feet upon the rocky path and set out to create something less self-centred and egoistical in nature than personal webpages =P it uses the same frameset as justpushplay and crush, too. featuring gordon freeman, this layout was created as a tribute of sorts to half-life, freeman, and the various species of headcrabs and supposedly-intelligent grunts that infest black mesa. doesn't look too bad, too - though half-life's designers could have chosen a more palatable color scheme for black mesa than bright orange (which reeks of gayness) juxtaposed with drab grey. oh well, i guess that's what scientists were made for. =X

 history
michael jackson is history, i say.
#5 :: history ::

nope, im not in love with michael jackson. personally i think he's way past his prime, that he's gotten a bit senile and neurotic in his old age (dangling babies out of windows, ffs? =X), and i never really found his brand of music (think : pop) very palatable anyway. but i knew someone who did adore that little rascal, and so i resolved to make a celebratory layout of sorts - thus the malevolent freak of nature you see here. a pity my skills weren't up to par then; this sight for sore eyes never got to see daylight, and i wouldn't know how happy it would have made her if it had. oh well... failure is the mother of success, as they say =)

 backschool
mummy, i don't wanna go to school! =X
#6 :: backschool ::

i'm really ashamed of this one, i say. considering that it was done a mere 6 months ago, when the new poly semester was looming over the horizon (and is doing so once again presently =X) and the prospect of school seemed less and less appealing, i must say i think i've really come a long way since then. it's not really that bad, to be honest; but it simply doesn't gel in the way i want my layouts to; there's no immersive sense of atmosphere evoked when one looks at it. oh well... let's leave it at that, shall we?

 moor98
the moor98 house webpage. all dominick's work... not mine! =P
#7 :: moor98 ::

moor house. ahhhhh. i really liked moor house, a long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...

anyway this was the 1998 entry for the inter-house webpage competition. i didn't do a lot of work... the entire site was done by Dominick =) in case you pple think i'm riding on his name. being tichy lil sec2s back then, all we did was to do research for him... *sighz* but i really like his design. still do, in fact.

 moor2k
c&c and kane must be the stupidest themes ever to base a webpage on...
#8 :: moor2k ::

don't really think this one deserves mentioning, but i'll just dump it here anyway. a lame attempt at the 2k competition which i never seemed to get around to completing. not that it'd have mattered much anyway =P nuff said. notice the very comfortable blocky feel that i adore so much =) oh well. i think it wasn't used in the end... being sec4s, we all decided to slack off to study and let the sec3s handle everything. =P *shrugs* now that i think about it, i feel kinda guilty...

 puritan
perhaps the puritan's weren't so pure after all
#9 :: puritan ::

this one is kinda amusing. this page was created for a sec3 lit class presentation on the puritans... i don't mind admitting now that i was more interested in adding cute graphics to the page than actually researching the topic... ended up koping most of the information there from some academic paper and doing a rushed last-minute presentation. surprisingly, it turned out pretty well! although the teacher was a little perturbed by the graphic nature of the pics... *shrugs* =)

 svalley
another one of those crummy webpages i had to do
#10 :: svalley ::

eeeek. i am never going to do screwy webpages for screwed-up moe officers again. NEVER. its just not worth it. they're incredibly fussy and picky about things =) yes, i have no respect for authority. so fucking sue me. this was the first site i did that used a pretty clever method of simulating menus... although it was pretty tedious to code. i'm pretty proud of discovering that little workaround... see if you people can spot it! and btw yes, i did go on the trip, and it was really fun... notice the cheapskate cliche bryce render in the background too.
