RED TAPE STUDIOS was founded in 1992 by two artists and avid computer users (Max Springer and Benzene) as a branch of Art Ventures West to be dedicated to multi-media and also to music. This is a multi-media portfolio of work from Max Springer and Benzene and their associates dating from the founding of Art Ventures West in 1982. Please note: the GALLERY section shows examples of Springer's paintings and gives descriptions of various shows.

DISCOGRAPHY: contains sound samples, album covers, and discussions on musical collaborations with a very eclectic group of artists, including John Duncan, Brad Teaby, Mike Keneally, the HMONG (with Noriko Yabata), and Benzene with Neurotika.
COMMENTARY: has a wide variety of reading in several languages, nitty gritty stuff mostly related to Max Springer. It has things that others have said about Max, reviews of openings, Max's thoughts about openings: ideas, words, very few pictures.
The EDITORIAL section is here in case 'commentary' wasn't enough for you to read. The manifesto is kinda of a dated idea, a little too strong by todays diffused perspectives, so we gave Max and friends this little space to air their thoughts. Art is thought-based. Design is eye-candy.
BUSINESS gives specific information about the services we offer.
MAX SPRINGER: More information on the music and painting aspects of Max's work.
The GALLERY section shows examples of paintings and gives descriptions of various shows.
We also have a full CATALOGUE of available artwork that shows appraisals and availability.
The BIOGRAPHY section will answer any questions you could possibly have about how or why Max got here.
BENZENE: Who?
Go to CONTACTS if you want any answers about any of it. Art dealers, professional artists and musicians or producers wishing to engage Springer or Red Tape Studios are especially encouraged to communicate, and this page will tell you even more about it!
Finally, the INDEX is an alphabetical listing of links within this site (like a book's index).
