Chinese

Chinese is spoken mainly in China, Taiwan and Singapore, though
it is also used as Lingua Franca or as business language in many
countries in South-East Asia. There are many regional dialects of
Chinese, which can differ as much from standard (Mandarin)
Chinese as English differs from French. However the Chinese government
carries through that every Chinese learns standard Chinese in addition
to the regional dialect or language.
Even though both mainland China and Taiwan speak Mandarin Chinese,
there are substantial differences between Chinese as spoken in PR
China and Singapore and Chinese as spoken in Taiwan. The most
obvious difference is that Taiwan still uses the traditional set of characters,
whereas mainland China and Singapore adopted a simplified set.
