FirewoodTo promote the construction and use of 450 Lorena stoves, by motivating, organizing, and training groups of women homemakers to construct them. For this purpose, a social worker will be contracted and trained, and a rotating fund will be established as a financing source for the participants so that materials could be purchased. The participants will provide all labor. The project will cover 19 low income neighborhoods in the town of Santa Rosa de Copán and 17 rural communities in the vicinity. Participants will be trained in the proper use of the stoves. In addition, five skilled laborers will be trained in the construction of the stoves so that they may offer their services to those families that are unable to construct their own. The cost of each stove will be approximately US$46.50, of which $14.50 is labor. Material costs are: chimney $7, three griddles $9, adobe blocks $4, sand $2, manure $2, clay $1, and cement $7.
