LGRA information
LGRA - Large Gazehound Racing Association - 200 yard drag race on
a straight, flat track. All dogs must run with properly fitted muzzles and race
blankets. Up to four dogs are released from racing boxes
or hand-slipped, depending on the club and equipment available.. A lure
consisting of a fur covered squawker, and is pulled by a drag lure machine
ahead of the hounds.
Hounds race a total of three times called programs and may attain national
points towards a (GRC) Gazehound Race Championship title.
Eligible breeds are: Afghans, Basenjis, Borzois, Chart Polskis,
Cirneco dell'Etnas, Greyhounds, Ibizan Hounds, Irish Wolfhounds,
Italian Greyhounds, Pharaoh Hounds, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Salukis, Scottish
Deerhounds and Sloughis. Azawakhs and Magyar Agars run as provisional breeds.
Calista is the first Cirneco Dell' Etna to earn a Gazehound
Racing Champion title.
Racing in Antioch, Illinois (Mia in White, Lucio in Blue, & Calista in Red)
Calista is also the first Cirneco Dell' Etna to earn a Superior Gazehound
Racing Champion title.

ASFA information
ASFA - American Sighthound Field Association - 500+ yard race with
many turns to simulate chasing a bunny in an open field. Dogs run up to three
at a time, in two separate runs and are judged on the following:
Follow (15 pts), Enthusiasm (15 pts), Agility (25 pts), Speed (25 pts) &
Endurance (20 pts).
Hounds are required to wear racing blankets (pink, blue or yellow), No muzzles
are required unless the dogs temperment requires it.
Dogs are hand-slipped using a slip lead, to follow a continous loop lure
consisting of three plastic bags.
Eligible breeds are: Afghan hound, Azawakh, Basenji, Borzoi, Chart Polski,
Cirneco dell'Etna, Galgo Espanol, Greyhound, Ibizan Hound, Irish Wolfhound,
Italian Greyhound, Magyar Agar, Peruvian Inca Orchid, Pharaoh Hound, Portuguese
Podengo, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Saluki, Scottish Deerhound, Sloughi and Whippets.

NOTRA information
NOTRA - National Oval Track Racing Association - The races may be at Short, Medium, or
Long Distances at the option of the Host
Club, subject to NOTRA approval. Either
a drag-lure, a continuous loop, or a raillure
track may be used. The specific
recommended distances are as follows:

MEDIUM 301 to 400 yds, 350 m
LONG 400 yds and over
Hounds are required to wear racing blankets, muzzles
are required.
Whippets must start from a suitable starting
box. Other breeds may use a starting
box, or if advertised prior to the meet,
and if approved by NOTRA, may be hand
slipped or use an automatic slip device. (An automatic
slip device is a device to which the
collars of the racers are attached, and
which simultaneously released the racers
when the starter throws a release handle.)
All racers must wear racing muzzles.
Hounds will compete only against
other hounds of the same breed.
Only purebred Afghan Hounds, Basenji,
Borzoi, Greyhounds, Ibizan Hounds, Irish
Wolfhounds, Italian Greyhounds, Pharaoh
Hounds, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Salukis,
Scottish Deerhounds, Sloughis, and Whippets
may be entered in an Official Race
