Dear OWIT-DFW
Reader,
As we enter
into the second half of 2003, I would like to reflect
back upon the first half to thank some very important
people for helping the OWIT-DFW chapter continue as a
proactive international trade organization. First, I must
thank the incredible DFW board for taking the 2003 vision
to heart and working so hard to ensure our members enjoy
greater benefits, plus more opportunities for growth and
learning in the in international trade area.
This dynamic
group of people, in just six months, have taken an already
strong organization and made it even better. How, you
ask? This newsletter is the first example. We are making
every effort to bring you valuable information regarding
your organization. Next, the board restructured the membership
dues so that all members can easily keep track of the
payment date. May 1st annually, but also reduced fees
during these economically challenging times. We want to
ensure our members can afford to be members and enjoy
the benefits. Talking about benefits, this year's board
also introduced the "Members Only" brown bag
lunches. These lunches provide informal but informative
topics at no costs to our members. Look for the next exciting
topic in the September Brown Bag information on page 4!
To learn about many other benefits introduced this year,
we welcome you to stop and talk with any us.
Next, I must
thank you, our members, for ensuring that OWIT-DFW remains
a viable international trade chapter. We could not be
so successful without your support and interest. Please
continue to let the board know your needs and wants. While
we work hard to bring new and exciting topics, such as
this quarter's dinner meeting on August 21, " Human
Rights - the international workplace and the international
contract", your input is important. If you desire
a topic or speaker, please feel free to contact any of
the board members. Of course, I want to thank our guest
speakers as well, without them; we would not have such
a vibrant topic calendar.
I also thank
the volunteers working on our October seminar, "Regulations
and Agreements - 2003 Impact", covering the advance
manifest changes, free trade agreements, mandatory AES
filing, and many other topics. If you are interested in
volunteering, we can always use more, please let us know.
Finally, I
thank our guest to take time out to learn more about our
chapter and in considering becoming a member. We hope
you do
.
So stay tune
for more excitement during this second half of 2003, including
the OWIT Annual Conference.
