The Importance Of Responsibility And Accountability

Then the Lord said to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?" "I do not know," he replied. "Am I my brother's keeper?"

Genesis 4:9

God expected Cain to be responsible for his brother Abel. Cain was answerable for the well being of his own brother Abel. But Cain failed, further more going to the extent of killing his own brother out of jealousy. He denied his responsibility and accountability by replying to God "Am I my brother's keeper?"

Jesus gave a new commandment to us that we should love one another. 1 Peter 4:8 states that "Above all, have fervent love for one another, because love covers over a multitude of sins."

To love one another is to be responsible and accountable to fellow brothers and sisters in the family of God. Their Spiritual well being is our responsibility. The "strong ought to help the weak", "bear one another's burden", "encourage one another".

Weekly Care Group reports are a vital part of HCC Care Group System. From that, we know how our fellow brothers and sisters are doing. Then we are able to be responsible for them and they in turn, accountable to us.

So, let us not be found lacking in diligence in our fulfillment of God's command. Let us be our brothers and sisters' keeper!
