Children Ministry

Children Ministry in HCC consists Saturday Children's Club (SCC) (started in 1999), Toddler's Class (started in 2003) and Primaries Class (started in September 2004)

We believe strongly that every child that was born on this earth is here for the purpose of God. The Word of God says that God knew them even before the existed. Therefore rightfully, all the children in the world belong to
Jesus. So what are we doing? Bringing them back to the Lord and teach them God.

We also believe that the children today are the next generation that is going to lead and become leaders of tomorrow. What they become will depend very much on what we can impart to them now. We believe in the total
development of the child and every program is drawn up to cater to the physical, emotional and spiritual development of children below 12 years of age. Our programs are designed according to the level of understanding of each child. We seek to reach children for Christ and help them to establish an on growing relationship with God. It is important and of great necessity to instill discipline and moral values in their lives. "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it". Proverbs 22:6

Children have very different ways of looking at things compared to the adults.
A child's worldview:

• Simplicity and non materialistic
• Curiosity
• They like new things and experimenting
• Different attitude towards people and the world
• Capacity to learn new ideas and concepts

Due to their curiosity and simplicity, it is very important for us as adults to guide, help and teach them to know the difference between what is right and what is wrong. Through Bible lessons, children begin to understand that they are special and important in the eyes of God. The Bible says that we should not despise them but guide and teach them towards maturity and help them to discover their talents and gifts. We make learning fun and exciting by integrating different approaches of teaching such as visual aids, object lessons, Bible-story telling, memory verses, games, clowning, skit, puppetry and many other forms of creative communication and helping them understand the word of God.

Review Questions is part of our interesting program each week because in order for them to play games, they have to answer some questions pertaining to the Bible Lesson and sometimes lessons they have applied in their life or say the memory verse. They are taught to be kind to one another, to love and respect their parents and elderly people, to be honest in their speech and to have a thankful attitude. They are also taught to be like Christ also.

We have lots of fun together worshipping and singing with action songs and dances.

Learning does not only confine to the four walls. The SCC children do have the privilege of going out for games two or three times in a year and we try to instill valuable morals and right attitudes into them. All children are welcome to join us on every Saturday from 3pm to 5pm except those months with 5th Saturday we are off.

The Toddlers and Primaries Classes run concurrently together with the Sunday Service. Children will meet in their respective classes after worship and giving their offerings to God. These classes are held not to baby-sit the children but the need to teach children the Word of God at their levels. Children's hearts are like a field of good ground. It doesn't need much tilling. They are tender and ready to receive the seed. Planting the incorruptible seed, which is the Word of God in good soil and not keeping it to us will produce results. Let's seize every opportunity to plant the Word of God in good ground.
